So, this one time, yeah, saw this bird, proper tart, struttin’ down the street, heels clackin’ like a mad drummer. Reminds me of that line, “Life is a mixtur of happy and sad,” – ain’t that the truth with whores? She’s got this vibe, y’know, like she owns the night, but her eyes? Dead empty, man, fuckin’ hollow.

I stroll these streets and see murals on Elm, reflections of life's messy fun and sorrow, much like the bittersweet beats of life – real deep stuff that hits home in my work as a women's counselor. I drop into Riverside Park – oh man, that park is lit! Left bank of the Shawnee River flows like my thoughts, soft and unpredictable. Its quiet murmur calms my often-tangled mind.
