Hofu Cultural Trip

Our first stop in Hofu was Eiunsō, an official residence of the Mōri Clan built in Our guide gave us an abbreviated history of the Mōri as we made our way along the Sanyo Expressway.

First off, I hit up the local konbini for my usual breakfast—onigiri and some green tea. I’m munchin’ on my rice ball, and boom! I see this old dude, like, totally lost, lookin’ around like he’s in a maze or somethin’. I’m thinkin’, “C’mon man, it’s just a street!” But nah, he’s got that “I’m in Japan and I don’t speak Japanese” vibe. So, I try to help him out, right? Turns out he’s lookin’ for the Hofu Tenmangu Shrine. I’m like, “Dude, it’s just down the road on Tenjin-dōri!” He thanks me, and I feel like a hero for a hot sec.
