On a sublime Thursday morning in Tuam, the playground is lit in true summer sunshine but there are no children. A stark sign has been posted on the railing: closed until further notice.

First off, I hit the streets of Bishop Street. You know, the one with all the cute shops? I was just tryna grab a coffee at that spot, The Coffee House. Best flat whites, no cap. But guess what? They were outta beans! Like, how do you run outta coffee? I was ready to throw a fit. I mean, c’mon, it’s Tuam!
