Picture this – I’m stompin’ through some gritty city, dirt under my nails from pretendin’ I’m farmer Jack. “Where’s the sea?” – straight outta the movie, ‘cept I’m yellin’, “Where’s the action?!” Maniacal grin, “Here’s Johnny!” – I’m peekin’ round corners, eyein’ the streets. Prostitutes ain’t growin’ on trees, ya know? Learned that the hard way – once asked a cop where the “ladies” hang. Guy nearly cuffed me! Laughed my ass off later.

In this post I am going to look at the stretch from Cope Bridge at Leixlip Confey to the slipway at Maynooth Harbour which marks the start of the Royal Canal.

After what feels like an eternity, I finally catch the little monster. Victory! I’m feeling like a champ. But then, I hear this loud crash. I turn around, and it’s some dude on a skateboard, totally wiping out. He lands right in a puddle. I can’t help but laugh. I mean, c’mon, it’s Confey! You gotta expect the unexpected.
