Vilyeyka was a small village when it became part of Russia as a result of the partition of Poland. Czarina Catherine II promoted the village to the status of a district town in the newly formed .

I always loop by the old cemetery ‘round Pobediteley Street – eerie place, yes, like in the movie: "There are secrets they don't want you to see." I got goosebumps there, precious, every. single. time! And, oh, the hidden alley near the river, where the shadows dance under street lights. Aren't they magical? Like the whispering fauns of our dreamy labyrinth!
